Jason Steorts is a board member of Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance and has been instrumental in overall trail building and planning through the existence of the trail system. He loves how the formation of this system has brought the community together. 

Jason is from St. Albans, West Virginia, and owns a local home building/ remodeling company (Steorts Home Design & Construction). He has been in business for over 26 years. He equates his love for building homes to his love for developing trails. "Each day, you construct something that you can stand back and see what you’ve accomplished and then, most importantly, once complete, you see someone enjoy what you’ve created for them."

When he's not working, Jason enjoys a good meal, mountain biking, skiing, traveling in his Airstream, and drinking beer!

Jason is married to Sara (who got him into running.) They have 2 boys,  Chase (who he's jealous of because he can play the guitar)  and Ty (who fortunately is his riding buddy, sometimes, if Jason is "cool enough" that day)

Why are you involved in MMTA? 
 

It's just cool!

If you could only pick one activity on the trails, what would it be?

 

Wow, this is a tough one. I enjoy trail running and building trail, but… It would have to be mountain biking. There is something about the thrill of ripping through the woods on a bike, fast!  And, the adrenaline of pushing your personal limits trying to best your best times, or hitting a big jump that I love.  

What is something no one else knows about you? 

 

I hate snakes!
